How did Walk In Greatness get started?
I am Christine 'Chris' Spalding and Walking In Greatness started from a strong desire to work with young girls. I have always had a passion for children and at a young age knew I wanted to someday work with children. I have always seemed to be able to relate to children and found that they seem to like me as well.
In my many years of working as a pediatric nurse I was always know as the fun nurse, or dare I say, the crazy nurse. I enjoy having a good time with children and inevitably find myself imparting words of wisdom to children. When I realized these children, especially the young girls, were actually listening to me I knew my calling was to be a mentor and advisor to children. Working with children means you have to work with parents. I love teaching parents and helping them foster a better relationship with their children. I believe in a family centered approach and try to engage parents whenever possible. |

In addition to having a love for children I also have a love for reading and writing. My first book, Songs Of A Girl's Heart: A Look At Issues Girls Face, is currently on sale. This book touches on a few of the obstacles girls face on a daily basis. I integrate my own personal experiences with some of these issues in order to help encourage young girls.
Parents will also find this book helpful as it may serve as a way to start a conversation with their daughters about these issues. My lighthearted style of writing will help to remove the tension surrounded by some of these very serious issues.
Whether you are a parent, a daughter, or simply have a love for girls this book will give you a new and different insight to the lives of girls.

In my spare time I serve as a guest writer for Nia Magazine. Nia is a lifestyle and empowerment online magazine targeting women of color. Take a look at my articles. I hope they will give you a better idea of who I am and the message I would like to send to others.
I also have a blog filled with my thoughts and observations related to life, love and relationships. I call my blog Miss Chrisisms. If you're interested in getting a peek at my views on the world or simply want something interesting to read, you may want to browse my blog.
